Review of Passion Struck
Passion Struck by John Miles is an empowering book that aims to drive change in individuals, causing them to live up to their full potential. It is a guideline that focuses not only on discovering one’s purpose but also on taking well-thought-out and planned action towards achieving it. Passion struck captures the aspects of fear, self-realization, courage, and thinking patterns involved in this journey of personal fulfillment.
Miles has built up on the criticality of being intentional in the shaping of one’s aspirations. The author introduces and expounds on a twelve-step framework for unlocking an intentional life. Using real-life examples of the experiences and conversations of iconic individuals who are purposeful in their lives, he skillfully shows the beauty of being Passion Struck. The author does not dwell only on his knowledge and ideas; he introduces other factors that contribute to living a purpose-filled life from other authors, generously quoting their thoughts and highlighting pieces of their work.
This book was written in the second person, making you feel that the author is directly addressing you. This book focuses on individuality, implying how important it is for someone to make changes within themselves. From seeking purpose to rebranding and making changes in relationships and circumstances, Miles makes this a personal journey for the reader.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I love how the author has made this book practical and realistic for everyone, despite where they are in life. Miles engages the audience in taking immediate action by starting small, for example, by simply writing one’s goals. I was also very impressed that he does not talk only from a point of personal experience; he has clearly taken time to research and read other works relating to his subject matter, boldly incorporating his takeaways into his book. Last but not least, I found the well-labeled visual illustrations very appealing, and the chapter exercises were very simple but life-changing.
I really appreciate the flow; there was nothing to cause confusion or contradiction. The book eluded positive energy, and the end was sealed with great words of encouragement. I did not hate anything about this book, and I must say that it was edited professionally. For the reasons mentioned above, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to individuals who have identified a lack of fulfillment in their lives. This book will give you the courage and insight to step into a life of significance.
