Review of When Business Is Love
“Where there is love, there is life,” said Mahatma Gandhi. This quote came to mind when I was reading this phenomenal book. In ‘When Business Is Love’ by Jan Ryde, the book details Ryde’s growth and success journey since assuming the role of CEO at Hästens at age 25. Jan Ryde primarily talks about embracing unconditional love in every aspect of his life to attain enduring peace and joy.
Ryde’s eloquent expression of his beliefs about love and commitment to providing the best, highest-quality beds to all his clients impressed me. Ryde is passionate about Hästens. I also found the book’s arrangement to be superb. The meticulous arrangement of points, questions, anecdotes, and subtopics in the book was simply marvelous. As Ryde shares his life story, we get to see him as a relatable person who is also not exempt from horrible experiences and is prone to life’s difficulties. Ryde shares a range of experiences, from having his car egged to going through a divorce, facing a lawsuit, losing his mom, and finally finding his footing. These experiences shaped him into who he is today. These experiences demonstrate honesty and transparency, fostering a connection between the readers and Ryde.
I love how Ryde demonstrates his humility through detailed acts of love and care towards his staff. He aims to build bonds with his staff, supporting and mentoring them to shift their mindset from scarcity to abundance. Ryde goes to great lengths by investing heavily in the training all members of his staff undertake. At heart, he is truly a kind person.
Ryde views business as a passion, his products as a gift, and this book as an expression of his love for his readers. He has a deep well of love for everyone, which he shares freely. He deeply cares about everyone, not only his staff and family.
I like the warm tone in which he articulates the book’s essence. Each page exudes a delicate touch that subtly echoes Ryde’s love. It’s so rich and soothing. I love it.
My favorite part is when Ryde stresses the importance of sleep and highlights the effects of stress. He highlights the extensive research on sleep and stress and how they contribute to poor health. He states that a lack of good-quality sleep and stress often lead to poor health. This is, of course, backed up by research. He emphasizes the importance of prioritizing sleep and health over material possessions, like flashy cars, which offer minimal health benefits. I found it impactful.
Reading the book was enriching, as I gained insights into the dedication, passion, and confidence needed to run a company, emphasizing the importance of believing in both your team and yourself. He is a true example of practicing what you teach and leading by example. I wholeheartedly loved it. I did not dislike any aspect of it or find any fault with the book.
I found the book to be well-edited, with informative content that was engaging and well-presented.
I give it a 5 out of 5 rating for its impactful message on prioritizing love in business, insightful discussions on taking care of the staff, and Ryde’s genuine passion that deeply resonated with me. When Business Is Love by Jan Ryde deserves the title of trendsetter because of its powerful and unconventional message. It is an absolute delight to read. I recommend it to everyone, particularly business owners and individuals seeking personal growth, for its valuable insights and inspiration for professional and personal development. The book ensures a shift in perspective for readers from resentment and lack to love and abundance. The book beautifully encapsulates Jan Ryde’s overflowing love, serving as a heartfelt endeavor to share that love with the world.
