Some challenges in life involve blows that are so hard and painful. But even more important is our response to those blows. First Survivor is a book written by Mark Unger, the father of Louis Unger, who was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age. That discovery led to a lot of changes, and as they battled with cancer, things were never the same again.

One day, Mary Ellen, Louis' mother, noticed a change in Louis' walking steps. After consulting the doctor, they discovered that Louis had neuroblastoma, a deadly type of cancer. Although it was a fatal blow to the family, they made a singular decision to support their boy until they could find a solution. His mother took care of him while his father researched the best treatment for his condition. And together, they went into a challenging but brave battle against the deadly cancer.

I loved everything about this book. Written by Louis' father, you can feel his emotions in his words. I also loved the hope the book brings to people struggling with similar illnesses. Louis' journey was well documented, making it a very detailed book on how to care for a cancer patient. The book also contains much information about cancer and its treatment, making it very informative and educational. I also loved the pictures of Louis at different stages of his journey that were included in the book, making it easier for readers to follow through and relate to the story. The definitions of medical terminologies at the end of the book were also a handy feature, helping readers thoroughly understand the story.

I did not dislike anything about the book. The story was beautifully and carefully crafted, with a perfect grammatical structure. It was well-written, motivational, and inspiring to people caring for cancer patients and even those at varying stages of illness.

I rate this book five out of five stars for its beautiful, brilliant, and captivating story. The book was expertly edited, and I found no grammatical or spelling errors while reading it. I recommend this book for individuals caring for people with cancer and people interested in caring for cancer patients. I also highly recommend this book for individuals with cancer searching for hope even as they go on their journey. This book will bring you the hope and comfort that you need.
