'My Spouse, My Friend' by Ingiete Oyama is a crash course in married life. This book covers everything from how to have civil arguments to creating long-term financial goals and, most importantly, figuring out how to get along with your in-laws! With a focus on religion and supported by biblical tales and insights, this book serves as a helpful guide for addressing concerns related to married life and obtaining the necessary solutions.
Oyama skillfully conveys the spirit of friendship in marriage, highlighting the significance of respect and understanding between partners. Readers will be motivated to value and cultivate the friendship that forms the foundation of their own relationships. The book provides guidance on handling money wisely, parenting kids in a godly home, and respect, love, and forgiveness. It also tackles harsh realities such as debt, divorce, redemption, and servitude in a feminist society.
The author highlights that a Christian marriage is a partnership between a husband, wife, and God and that getting closer to one's spouse might come from going through a personal transition. She navigates common obstacles with empathy and pragmatism, providing couples with a road plan to fortify their relationship and increase their closeness through faith.
The book is unique in that it tackles subjects like self-love and the need for transparency and honesty in fostering closeness and trust between partners. It is a thought-provoking read for Christian couples hoping to improve their marriage because it has brief but meaningful chapters that provide helpful guidance on communicating, developing trust, and supporting one another. I find no reason to dislike this book, and the book is well edited with no apparent errors. So, I would like to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Overall, this is an essential book for all engaged, long-term, wedded couples and young couples who have already embarked on their divinely appointed path.
