I do not own a dog, partly because getting a trained dog is ridiculously costly where I am. I always thought training a dog was too much work for me. By the end of this book, I wanted to get a dog. The author made it seem like I was missing out on the greatest love one could ever have. The fact that dogs will always be there for you to come home to, excitedly waiting to see you, made me long for a dog. However, not without reminding myself of the author's point that one should only get a dog if they are financially, emotionally, and physically present for the dog.


The Dog Training Manifesto is a dog training manual by Bartholomew Henri. This book details how to train your canine pet and enhance the relationship between the two of you. Not only is this a cheaper option to help you save on some cash, but personally training your dog increases the bond and trust between you and your canine friend. Considering the cost of getting your dog professionally trained, buying this book is a drop in the ocean.

What I loved most about this book is the author's apparent love for dogs. His sentiments towards Chihuahuas resonated with me, and I could not help but chuckle. The book also incorporates the psychology of different breeds of dogs and their temperaments. The knowledge can be practical to anyone, including those with already trained dogs. Understanding your dog is the key to helping both of you maximize your love.

There was nothing I did not like about this book. The book is exceptionally edited without a single error. After reading this book, I feel ready to own a dog. I give the book a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars because it is practical and helps you save money while bonding with your canine friend. The book can also be a reference manual, and I recommend the book to anyone with a dog(trained or untrained) or those considering getting one.

I own three dogs and have always had a dog in my home all of my life. They are definitely always there for you. I would suggest picking a dog from a shelter. If you want a certain breed of dog, research what will fit with your lifestyle. Always look for a reputable breeder as well. Be aware of the health issues that designer breeds have.
