Review of Involuntary Reroute
"Involuntary Reroute" by Robert Laney is a captivating book of entrepreneurship and ingenuity, chronicling the journey of a determined nineteen-year-old and his entrepreneurial mother as they embark on a business venture in the travel industry. Despite starting with no capital, they leverage their expertise and creativity to establish a thriving business model. By tapping into the training needs of Kodak employees and offering innovative incentives like discounted first-class travel, they quickly gain momentum and secure their first investor. However, their success is hindered by the absence of an airline ticket license, presenting a new challenge to overcome. The book intricately details the strategic maneuvers and challenges faced by a group targeting South Florida to purchase a travel agency with an airline ticket license. As they navigate through the complexities of the travel industry, they encounter unexpected hurdles such as the untimely passing of the owner, insurance complications, and managerial issues within the agency. The book delves deep into the intricacies of business negotiations, highlighting the determination and resilience required when acquiring and managing a business, especially in a dynamic industry like travel.
The book also delves into the innovative strategy known as Soul for Seoul, where travelers exploited a loophole to purchase discounted first-class tickets. Initially embraced by Korean Air, the tactic soon turned sour when the airline demanded exorbitant fare differences from the entrepreneurs behind Soul for Seoul. Despite facing threats and pressure, the entrepreneurs stood their ground, refusing to be extorted by the airline. This book also highlights the complexities and pitfalls of navigating airline policies and negotiations. The book serves as a cautionary yet empowering narrative for entrepreneurs facing unexpected challenges in their endeavors.
What stood out to me in "Involuntary Reroute" was its compelling depiction of human determination and resilience amidst challenges. The book beautifully portrays the journey of a young entrepreneur and his mother, showcasing their creativity and strategic thinking in building a successful business from scratch. I appreciated how the author delved into the intricacies of negotiations, highlighting the importance of perseverance and adaptability in the business world. The book also sheds light on innovative strategies like Soul for Seoul, offering valuable insights into entrepreneurship and decision-making. Overall, I enjoyed the book's engaging narrative and its ability to inspire readers with its real-world lessons and experiences. So, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars from me. The book's editing is well done and error-free, which enhances readers' reading experience.
I felt by reading this book that this book doesn't have any drawbacks for me, of course not for me. I fully enjoyed reading it.
