Thoughts on Science and Faith, a unique philosophy book by Michael John, offers a fresh perspective on the timeless debate between science and religion. The book's distinct approach is to compare and contrast the diverse concepts of both, shedding new light on this age-old discussion.

The book starts with a solid introduction, which serves as a guide and briefly outlines the author's discussion. This introduction plays a crucial role in building a foundation of understanding of the topic, paving the way for a more profound exploration as the reader progresses.

Each chapter of the book presents a unique structure, alternating between the viewpoints of a devoted Christian and a scientist. This approach allows for a comprehensive analysis and breakdown of each aspect of religion, from the concept of God and the birth of Jesus to the idea of an afterlife and the definition of the soul. The science aspect is highly detailed as the author has researched which scientists to use to help discuss the different concepts of the Christian Faith. One prominent example is the String theory and the Hawking radiation theory mentioned in Chapter 3, which also uses biblical references.

One of the book's most intriguing aspects is its use of mythology to help explain the chapter's topics. This inclusion of mythology and the usual two sides of science and faith provides a fresh and thought-provoking perspective on the debate, challenging traditional notions of who's right or wrong.

Unlike other books based on faith, this one also compares and contrasts with other religions. In this case, it is Judaism, and their beliefs are the same yet different from Christianity. This is rather refreshing because most books on this topic typically focus on Christianity and pay no heed to other religions. Using Judaism is also a good choice as there is history behind the two religions and how they clash regarding ideals.

Overall, this book gets a five out of five. It gives a fresh perspective on a common debate by including a different perspective, providing a new angle. It helps balance the debate with a mix of scientific theories and religious quotes, and it gives a good comparison with another religion. I would recommend this book to those interested in the topic if you are interested in a new perspective.
