From Galway To New York unleashes descending branches of a Monahan family tree. It depicts the life of Thomas Monahan, his father and grandfather. It is written by Thomas Monahan, having 366 pages, with each ounce of ink depicting a different phase of life.
I laugh, I joke but I also cry
From Galway To New York is an autobiography on three generations of the Monahans, not merely bounded by blood, but also with love. It is mainly focoused on Thomas Monahan and his surroundings. Thomas was born in Ireland in a small town filled with happiness and away from hard realities. His childhood went well with memorable times. Later, as his town seemed smaller to occupy his big dreams, he desired to fly to New York to earn a lot of money and send bags full of money to his parents in Ireland. Hence, he departed from Ireland in the seek of a brighter future in New York. After experiencing that city, he seemed to realize that he had made wrong decision of leaving his life in Ireland, he had no friends, no place to be called as home and life seemed terrific. Later events turn out to be productive, and his conditioned stabilizes to some extent. In his way, he found his love, made a beautiful family together. And from there, his life started taking some sweet, sour and some bitter turns till the last one. Loving can heal, loving can mend your soul, and it is the only thing that I know
This novel depicted true meaning of love, friendship and bonds. Thomas's wife stayed by his side even when he had no penny in his pocket, but only dust. There were a few characters who suck out your belief in your close ones just like Uncle Roddy. Then, there were those who strengthen your belief in friendship and humanity, just like Uncle Matt and Aunt Barbara.I personally realized that I, myself, have witnessed both types in my life. This book is a true reflection of the realities of life, which true sweet, salty and even bitter sometimes.
Piece by piece, He restored my faith
The fact which I observed the most was that when there's too darkness and you are about to get lost, God torches your way to guide you. The only key is to 'keep going'. I have learnt it. Have you?

Moving onto the fallacious side. Well, that didn't exist. I guess, that fog of emotions, despair, fear, hardships, love and happiness, all of it together, blocked my sight to point out any flaws. I didn't find any grammatical errors, any awkward sentences or anything that I could compalin about. So, I can stamp this book as 'Flawless'.

Overall, the plot seemed epic to me. Why wouldn't it be? After all, it was a true story. The story seemed to contain an endless galaxy of love, despair and hope. It won't be fair if I don't appreciate the writer's pen, and congratulate that tough soul on overcoming such hardships of life with a beam of hope. I would rate it 4 out of 4 as it was well above the par of my expectations. I would definitely recommend it to everyone out there, each person having his own story buried deep inside his heart, just like mine.

Great selection of quotes from the book but I liked this note by you the best: "even when he had no penny in his pocket, but only dust."

Thanks for stopping by my review.

I'm glad you liked this one so much. Sometimes it's hard to find a good non-fiction book. This one seems like it qualifies. Thanks.

It seems to me this book is like the minerals you have to dig for deep into the ground but after the back breaking work, you become rich, which I think is one of the directions of the story, too bad for me I don't have the tools!
Great review btw

What a beautiful story. Thomas Monahan seems to have lived quite a life. I'd love to read about his journey. Sometimes it's really had to find a non fiction that grips you and is relatable. This one seems to be.

Thank you for your review ;)
