In his biography, A Dream for Peace, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah details his experiences as an activist during the Algerian revolution, a bright counselor to President Houphouët-Boigny, an excellent diplomat, and the first scientist to propose the theory behind the reverse transcriptase enzyme. The book also highlights his many outstanding achievements. The main idea centers on Dr. Berrah's conviction that communication and forgiveness are crucial for promoting international peace, especially in a world still scarred by mistrust and tensions from the Cold War. This unwavering dedication is demonstrated by his experiences and successes in the field of diplomacy. The book delves deeper than a single story to examine larger issues including racism, injustice, intolerance against religion, corruption, and the long-lasting effects of colonization in Africa. It eloquently depicts the difficulties encountered by African visionaries pursuing freedom and political consciousness.

After marrying his beloved Titi, Dr. Berrah finds contentment in his private life, which initially seems difficult. His dedication to world peace is reflected in his connections, which are based on the same ideals. The book highlights the challenges faced in obtaining such freedom and invites readers to reflect on the relevance of our current freedom. The book's intrinsic values provide significant advantages to readers who delve into its pages. Despite being nearly 500 pages, the book is easy to read. He spends a whole section detailing his microbiological research, but it's worded straightforwardly. Even someone who knows nothing about historical events may read and comprehend the book because all of the events are explained understandably. I especially loved the black-and-white photos since they added depth and personality to the story and helped us comprehend his early years and adulthood.

There was nothing I didn’t like in this book. Even upon close inspection, I couldn’t find any errors in it, which shows how well-edited this book is. Therefore, I’ll rate it 5 out of 5 stars. Politicians should read this book because it contains valuable lessons about the diplomacy of smiles. This book might also be interesting to those who wish to learn about the background of African colonization. Ultimately, I think that everyone should read this book since it conveys a message of love and peace.
