Passion Struck by John R. Miles is a guide to finding and living a life of passion and purpose. It introduces the concept of being "Passion Struck" and emphasizes the importance of passion, resilience, and intentionality. The book is structured into three parts: mindset shifts, behavior shifts, and the psychology of progress. Miles shares his personal journey and insights from interviews with prominent leaders, advocating for a life driven by passion and intentionality to achieve self-realization and fulfillment.

Derek Jeter's leadership style is cited as an example of how actions speak louder than words. Jeter led the New York Yankees to multiple World Series victories by setting a positive example for his teammates, demonstrating that consistent, exemplary behavior can inspire and motivate others. The concept of achieving mastery through small, consistent actions is highlighted. The book uses the example of successful individuals who gained mastery by maintaining momentum despite challenges, illustrating the importance of daily activities in achieving long-term goals. The book emphasizes the importance of leading by example. John R. Miles explains how actively demonstrating care, empathy, and dedication can create meaningful connections and nurture lasting relationships. The book includes exercises encouraging readers to identify areas in their lives where they can inspire change by taking decisive actions.

I also encountered some negative aspects of the book. The book discusses the pervasive issue of self-criticism and the impact of ego on personal growth. The tendency to engage in negative self-talk and the difficulty of maintaining a balanced perspective can hinder one's progress and ability to embrace new opportunities. The book discusses how negativity from others can significantly impact one's motivation and confidence. For example, the character "Mark" is portrayed as someone whose pessimistic outlook chips away at the protagonist's confidence and enthusiasm for their business venture, leading to hesitation and a safe, mediocre path.

Those who feel stuck in their current life or career and are searching for a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment will find valuable insights and practical guidance. I therefore rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. The book was exceptionally well-edited without errors.
