In My Spouse, my friend Ingiete Oyama offers a reflective examination of marriage, presenting it as a sacred covenant ordained by God. She delves into the original design of marriage and addresses the distortions that undermine this divine institution. The book sheds light on critical elements such as intimacy, financial management, and the influence of friendships on marital bonds. It reveals the myriad of obstacles that spouses face and provides actionable advice for surmounting these challenges to achieve a fulfilling union.

Oyama emphasizes a commonly overlooked aspect: the necessity for couples to cultivate self-awareness and to recognize the significance of financial harmony in their union. Many marriages suffer due to the oversight of this essential truth. Fortunately, the author addresses these concerns. The book's practical nature, enriched by Oyama's personal anecdotes and accounts from various individuals, was particularly striking. Her insights into the roles of friendships and finances in marriage, her staunch views on divorce beyond the grounds of unfaithfulness, and her unwavering belief in divine intervention for marital strife all contribute to the book's potency. It promises to enlighten partners, helping them identify and rectify their missteps towards nurturing an ideal marriage.

One thing I like about the book is that the author imparts valuable guidance on navigating marital challenges as they arise, maintaining an impartial perspective on the institution of marriage. The book appreciates the author's honesty in portraying the union of two individuals from distinct backgrounds—a venture into the unknown for both—and the collaborative effort required to forge a successful partnership. The author provides an equitable evaluation of the obstacles encountered by spouses and dispenses sage advice to those married, aiding them in their journey together.

I didn't dislike anything about the book; it was well edited and free from grammatical errors. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for anyone who is in a relationship or wants to be in one.
