This book takes you on a heart-wrenching journey with a family as their son, Louis, fights neuroblastoma. It starts with the devastating diagnosis and follows them all the way to the moment they finally hear the word 'cured'. You'll feel every high and low alongside them, and by the end, you might just feel like you know Louis and his family personally; their story will stay with you.

The story starts in late summer 2001. Mary Ellen noticed something wasn't quite right with her son, Louis. He was always a quiet kid compared to his brother Harry, but lately he barely spoke at all. Worried, she took him to their pediatrician, Dr. Germain. He sent them to a bone specialist, Dr. Renshaw, who diagnosed Louis with Perthes disease after checking him out and taking X-rays. Just when Louis started nursery school, things took a scary turn. They ended up in the hospital, where they got the shocking news that Louis might have leukemia. This is where the heart-wrenching journey of this brave little three-year-old and his family begins. It's a story filled with lessons you won't forget.

I really liked the level of honesty the author portrayed throughout the entire book. Those personal notes, written during what must have been incredibly difficult times, made me feel a real connection with him. I could sense the depth of his emotions, even if I didn't experience them quite as intensely. It was incredibly brave of him to share that vulnerable side of himself, and I admire his honesty and his clear desire to help others. I couldn't find any negative aspects in this book.

This book is flawless. The writing is clear, easy to understand, and beautifully presented. The editing is top-notch as well. If you or someone you love is facing cancer, especially neuroblastoma, this book is an absolute must-read. It gets a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars from me.
