Insomnia is a widely discussed health issue. Insomnia affects one’s moods and ability to function efficiently during the day. It causes unhappiness, physical discomfort, and irritability, and impacts one’s ability to stay active and focused. Despite the amount of literature available on the topic, there seems to be no concrete solution to treat insomnia. In his book, The Fight for Sleep, author Thad R Harshbarger provides a road map to get rid of insomnia.

The book can be read as a workbook. It is categorically divided into eleven chapters. Each chapter is what the author calls a Sleep Map. These maps have flow charts and corresponding text. The book is full of practical advice. The structure of the book provides it with a scientific gravitas.

What I loved the most about the book were the flow charts. I thought it was a unique way of keeping readers engaged while providing enough information. The book was very easy to navigate through.
I had no complaints about the book. It is professionally edited. I did not come across any grammatical issues. I do not suffer from insomnia. But reading the book I am convinced that it will help those who are struggling with sleeplessness.

The solutions provided in the book seemed to be a result of rigorous research. The author has done a brilliant job of addressing what is clearly a global issue.

I see no reason to rate this book any lower than 5 out of 5 stars. Harsbarger has drawn from loads of cases and made compelling arguments in favour of his offered solutions for insomnia.

I highly recommend this book to readers suffering from chronic insomnia. There are some powerful tips in the book. They are easy to follow and implement. The book will also help readers who are not necessarily insomniacs but would just like to improve the quality of their sleep.
