28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humorous Memoir is a hilarious book by Poppy Mortimer. A funny collection of 28 dates that the author experienced from the age of 20 to 40. This is a very well-written book that hooks you from the beginning to the end.

First off, I have to complement the cover of the book, which is very eye-catching and gorgeous. The language used in the book feels very authentic, and the author succeeds in bringing the readers with her to each of these dates. The dates start in the UK, where the author is from, and move around to LA and finally Australia. The dates range from manipulative men to cringeworthy situations and sometimes shocking incidents. Anyone who has been through dating life at any point in their life can relate to at least one of the stories. Each description of a date starts with the author's age, location, and how the date came about, such as face-to-face, online, etc.

This is not only a funny book about dates, but I also find it very empowering at times. There are stories that give the readers a message to not settle for and compromise their comfort or happiness, and to follow their gut instincts when judging people and situations. The book also, at times, gives the message to spot any toxic situations and move away as soon as possible.

This is the kind of book that makes you laugh out loud and gasp at times out of surprise or shock. This is best for readers who like funny, empowering books, and especially for anybody who has gone through dating life and had disastrous dates. I do not have any negatives about the book, and it is very well-written and edited. Therefore, I give the book a wholehearted 5 out of 5 rating.
