I was delighted to read Uplifted: 12 Minutes to More Joy, Faith, Peace, Kindness, and Vitality by Susan Smith Jones, PhD. The book is a fantastic guide to a healthy lifestyle. Enjoy reading the book by reading one chapter a day. Print out the lists as a fun way to mark your achievements. Everyone will benefit from this book.

In each chapter, the author shares her insights on wellness with stories, quotes, and advice. She travels deep into the topics of spirituality, health, and relationships. Susan’s mother and grandparents gave her home-grown advice that formed the foundation of her life goals. How marvelous that she shares that advice with everyone. At the end of each chapter, she provides a helpful list of suggestions for incorporating her advice into your life. These simple tasks only take 1-12 minutes. The author impressively teaches how to improve your life in a short amount of time!

One of the interesting pieces of advice about relationships was enlightening: to greet people with honor and respect because we are children of God. Another piece of advice is that since our medicine comes from food, we must choose healthy foods. One other interesting piece of advice was on forgiveness and how it is important to give forgiveness even to those who have passed away. This provides a resolution for past sorrows, resulting in freedom from pain.

The author has written 33 books; she writes articles in magazines and lectures in the US and other countries. Her website has more information. Reading this book is like visiting with a dear friend. Reading about her daily routines was so interesting. Occasionally, she adds extra activities to her routine. Susan conveys a comprehensive understanding of her thoughts, beliefs, and feelings throughout the book. The organization of the presentation of topics makes the lessons understandable. She included two humorous chapters that are entertaining with stories and jokes. I found two typographical errors, which did not affect the rating of this book. Because of the reasons I have provided in this review, I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5.
