[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Art OF Education" by Lola Kay.]
Teaching is not an easy task. Teachers meet students from different backgrounds with different needs and personalities. The teachers must adopt an effective teaching style to meet each student's academic needs and provide a wholesome learning experience. The Art of Education by Lola Kay offers incredible insights and tips for teachers to create a fulfilling educational experience in a positive, healthy, interactive environment. Thus creating a space that celebrates every student.
There are so many positive aspects to this book. It is a guidebook that offers incredible insights to educators and teachers to elevate their teaching experience and enable students to learn better. The author brings much attention to tiny details, which are usually overlooked when carrying on the business of teaching. The importance of classroom routines, behavior-specific praises, constructive feedback, and social interaction, which may come through a simple way of greeting, is nuanced throughout the book. For her, routines and relationship building are the core ingredients in changing classroom dynamics.
She delves into the fundamentals, showing readers how much of a difference and impact her strategies would have on every teacher's teaching experience. She includes differentiation strategies and case studies showing the practical application of her tips. The book is exceptionally well edited. I could not find any errors in the book. The tone of the book is well-suited to the subject matter. It is almost as if I were in a class for a lesson. The tone is engaging, fun, informal, and, at the same time, incredibly enlightening. She recognizes the need for teachers to take a break despite their devotion to their work.
There are no negative aspects to this book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it also goes beyond the confines of classroom experience to touch on real-life skills such as time management, critical thinking, and empathy. I recommend this book to teachers and educators looking to improve their teaching experience and students.
