Debora is a wealthy oil heiress with no respect for human feelings. She has a cold personality, treats her workers harshly, and spends extravagantly. Debora hires Cheryl, a personal assistant, and gradually turns her into a glorified maid, always cleaning up after her mess. “Relieved” by Cheryl Richardson is a real-life story about Cheryl’s struggle to break free of a toxic work relationship with her boss.

Having nothing to worry about, Debora tries out many things, like painting, knitting, an IVF, and so on. She is quick to make decisions and won’t even bat an eyelid while cancelling plans. By keeping cats without really taking care of them and spending an outrageous sum on Moshe's surgery, one would wonder what experiences led her into becoming this way. Get a book’s copy to find out.

This book discusses prevalent themes such as abuse, abortion, grief, IVF, the struggle to survive, and so on. I was shocked by the way Debora treated Cheryl and so many other workers. I like how the author uses simple language to narrate events. I found some stories highly relatable because I’ve experienced something slightly similar to this, although not in an employer-employee situation.

There is nothing negative to point out in this book. There are lots of lessons to learn from this book. It’s true that money can buy all the luxuries in life. However, money isn’t the ultimate. It is also necessary to properly go through therapy in order to heal from past traumas. However, I found some errors, which didn’t alter my reading experience. I'd say the book is professionally edited. Hence, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is recommended to workers in toxic relationships with their employees, as it serves as a wake-up call to encourage them to walk away from these kinds of toxic and traumatising relationships in order to become relieved and maintain one’s sanity.

This type of book, while non-fiction and a memoir, reads more like a novel. I feel badly for Cheryl and everyone who finds themselves in this sort of situation. Money can’t buy everything, but sometimes those with a lot of it think that they can play by. Their own rules. Thanks!
