Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis does not work like the typical golf guidebook. Golf lovers will consider this short and very inspiring book as a kind of assistant in their minds—it is a kind of caddy that can help everyone. Barlis does not exclude the consideration of physical skill in football. But she notes that, in actuality, the mind is the master planner of the course. The book expounds on the concepts of attitude toward success and visualization of success. It offers several activities that golfers should undertake to ensure that they develop their pre-shot routine, which will ensure that confidence replaces doubt. They also provide advice on how to control emotions—the ‘fear’ that sets in after a terrible shot as well as the ‘confidence’ that comes with a series of good shots.

What makes this remarkable about Play Golf Better Faster is the fact that these tips are not limited to the green. Barlis’ tips to grab focus, transform negatives into positives, and boost confidence are something that one might need to deal with in life, be it in the form of giving a presentation or learning a new dance move. Play Golf Better Faster is not like some of the other golf guides that may shift your attention with complex terms and phrases. Barlis has a way of explaining things in a conversational style, so it does not take rocket science to incorporate her ideas. With its easily digestible and inspirational content, it would be wise to take this little book with you to your next golf game and keep it in your golf bag for constant use.

The concentration on the mental aspect is good to see, and some people may feel that there is not enough information on the swing or the strategy of the golf course. Finally, for those who would like more detailed information concerning club selection or various stances or swing techniques, this book can only be partly helpful. The rating for Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book is going to be 5 out of 5 stars. The editing was done superbly, as I did not notice any type of error, and I did not have anything to complain about or dislike.

Thus, by focusing on the mental side, Barlis paints a picture of faster progress and a more fun approach to the game of golf. Indeed, whether you are a casual golfer or a competitive one who is keen on improving your performance to the extent of cutting numerous strokes off your total, this book contains mental strategies that can guide you in conquering the greens—and, possibly, other areas as well.
