Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
The book Play Golf Better Faster: Little Golf Bag by Kalliope Barlis opens by explaining many things that shape a person's golf game and how inner strengths and epiphanies drive players to the next level. The author, drawing from personal transformation, introduces the central thesis: each golfer is capable of producing excellence right from the nucleus of every cell in his or her body.
This belief marks the starting point of the book in understanding NLP as a means of replicating new patterns of activity to encourage golfers to unlock reference sources for performance enhancement. Even in the course of the practice, the hands-on strategies and tips are presented in a way that assists the player in setting the right mental diet and the required levels of sense perceptiveness for the course. Another important aspect of the book is the use of visualization techniques, which make the players see successful scenes of hitting and use sound and motion to firmly anchor the desired experiences. Subsequently, the narrative continues to explain various structured methods of practice that include the aspect of mimicking the actual game situations, thus being different from mere repetition. Some of the proposals are to play the hole backward and purposefully rehearse as part of efforts to enhance focus on the target and decision-making capability. The book provides the ways in which the game can be played, and the guide stresses goal-setting as well as mental concentration during each round. The strategies for dealing with course conditions and efficiently putting the foundations in place are fully explained, accompanied by a strong focus on the right attitude toward the shot and the ability to make the best even from the worst shot. The mental and physical techniques introduced throughout the book are incorporated into an effective strategy for playing golf and for cultivating one’s character and strength for overcoming all sorts of challenges that life throws at the individual.
The most appealing feature of this book exactly lies in the fact that, by utilizing mental methods and focusing on self-awareness, the author shows how it is possible to enhance one’s golf performance. In that respect, it is also very inspiring that the book focuses on using internal resources and on the idea that every golfer already has it in him or her to become great. It makes me happy that the author describes his own experiences and opinions together with practical tips, which makes the journey described familiar and motivating. NLP as a tool adopted to recondition the thinking processes is very interesting at this point in the book. I was surprised by the fact that the book shows the ways and skills of embodying visions and using senses, as well as how it gives opportunities to create positive associations. These are not only functional but also promote awareness of the game, which transforms practice sessions into more fruitful ones. I also appreciate the kind of practice that the author recommends and which has a scheduled approach to practice. In this manner, the characteristic of mimicking play-like conditions and the concentration on the quality rather than the number of practice drills enable more efficient skill development. The methods for goal setting, concentration of the mind, and management of different conditions of courses are concrete and reasonable.
I have no dislikes for this book. Apparently, great editing contributes to the realization that it is devoid of any errors. I give this book 5 to 5 stars for the encouragement, skills, and strategies depicted in this book regarding this game. Therefore, with the help of synchronizing such aspects of preparation as mental and physical ones, it will be interesting for golfers.
