Legacy is a collection of African proverbs tackling different aspects of life. The sayings are grouped according to the topic they tackle, such as forgiveness, love, hope, etc., and compared to similar teachings in the Bible. This comparison intends to showcase the concept of universal principles that guide people's lives despite being from different cultures. It also preserves African traditions for future generations. For a deeper understanding of the proverbs, the book offers a commentary section to delve deep into the meaning of the proverbs and their impacts on life.

It was easy to follow the book's contents because the proverbs are arranged per topic for easy understanding. I also applaud the author for the commentary section I mentioned above because it gives more insight into the proverbs that readers can digest. Additionally, there are study guides with questions to challenge readers' application of the proverbs in their lives. That window of readers' participation in the book makes its teachings practical and thus impactful on their lives.

Moreover, the fact that the book compiles proverbs from different cultures, displaying their similarities, restores hopes of oneness. The proverbs not only unify cultures but also teach valuable lessons about life that those who can follow will live a satisfying life. I commend the author's research in this work. The book puts African wisdom on the map to showcase that the continent, too, has had guiding life principles similar to those in the Bible.

I didn't spot anything to dislike in the book. The content enriched me with valuable principles to guide my life and relationships with others. Its editing was also meticulously done, and it is without any writing flaws. Therefore, I rate Chris Morehouse's Legacy: Wisdom of African Traditions and the Bible 5 out of 5 stars. Those who enjoy proverbs and African traditional principles are best suited for this book.
