There is a yang to every yin, and anything that has benefits also has drawbacks. I'd give it my best attempt, but a quick description cannot adequately convey the amount of knowledge included in this book. On these pages, Chris Dreyer opens up to the public about his experiences deciding to streamline or niche his company. He makes it clear early on in the book that this is not an attempt to fit everyone into a specific niche, but if you read this and find it to be both engaging and helpful, then it's probably for you. The disadvantages of niche marketing are discussed in the first few chapters; several of these drawbacks can be inferred even just from the phrase itself. This reduces the possibility of entering a field uninformed and without a complete understanding of its potential and all that it entails, both positively and negatively. As the title Niching Up suggests, the author then goes into great length about the many benefits of having a niche, when and if one should have one, how to build your niche, and other things that stand to gain or lose.

Let's get started in any sequence, as this book has a lot of noteworthy features. I really like the humorous allusions to Super Mario Bros. and The Lord of the Rings that Mr. Dreyer used to make his points. I had great admiration for the author's autobiographical pieces, particularly the ones where he transformed into a robot in order to achieve exceptional proficiency in particular domains. I must admit that it was both terrifying and really inspiring. With his flawless and compelling writing style, this author would express the most unexpected things out of the blue.

Overall, reading this book was enjoyable and instructive. Since it is an actual work and not a work of fiction, it is essentially a compilation of information and experiences organized as the author sees fit, something I also agree with. Thus, no! I don't have any other notes to improve it.

This has got to be one of the most interesting business books I've ever read, so I'm giving it five out of five stars. It is easy to grasp and written in plain, straightforward English. Not to mention that it was flawlessly edited and error-free. I would advise everyone pursuing a career to look into this; it might provide the answers to the issues that keep you up at night! Enjoy yourselves!
