The events of life are really unpredictable, and most times the things that we expect the least hit us at the most unexpected time. It is how a person tackles this situation that will determine the impact on their lives. First Survivor by Mark Unger is a story that talks about Louis Unger, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a very bad cancer, at a very young age. So, the book talks about how the parents tackled this illness and everything that went on.

In this book, we can see how the parents of Louis suddenly found out about their son's cancer. Mark and Mary Ellen become relentless advocates for their son. Their commitment to finding a solution fuels their tireless pursuit of the best possible medical care available. I liked and enjoyed many things about this book.

I like how, with its emotional story of survival and resilience, the book educates people on the details of childhood cancer. This kind of cancer is something most people only imagine, but this book brings it to life and shows people how it really is, the emotions associated with it, and other things.

There is something else that I really like about this book, and I feel that it helped a lot when it came to captivating the audience and ensuring that emotions were passed down, and that is the inclusion of photographs throughout the book. It made sure that it further enhanced my connection to the story, and it fostered a sense of relatability and emotional investment. I also like how, in the book, there was a powerful synergy between me and the people mentioned. The emotions the book portrays are love, frustration, and perseverance.

The only thing I did not like about the storyline of the book was that Louis and his family were constricted. The story did not give a view of other broad aspects of their lives. It should have been talked about way more. For me, this is a negative side of the book. However, the book has no errors. It was exceptionally edited, so I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars regardless of the negative aspect mentioned. I recommend the book to people who want to read about cancer.
