The book Quest: Finding Freddie by Thomas Richard Spradlin tells about Frederick David Nachman (Freddie), a businessman who was the President and CEO of Nachman International Trading Corporation (NITC). Freddie traveled to Lagos, Nigeria, for a business deal with the Nigerian government. However, he disappeared suddenly while there. His wife, Mrs. Nachman (Ruth), hired the Clifford & Warnke law firm in Washington to send someone to Nigeria to locate Freddie and bring him back to New York. Thomas Richard Spradlin, a partner at Clifford Law Firm, was assigned this task.

Richard Spradlin had recently come back from Nigeria after submitting a request for demurrage payments owed to Ross International Investments (RII) by the Nigerian Government for a shipment of cement to Lagos Port. During this time, there was a coup d'état in Nigeria, which made it very difficult for Richard to go back to Nigeria right away. Will Richard manage to accomplish his task? This book tells the complete story of the difficulties Richard faced on his journey and how he managed through them in Nigeria.

What I liked most was how Spradlin mixed humor with serious storytelling. Even with the importance of his mission, he keeps the story interesting and sometimes funny. His vivid descriptions of people and places made it easy to imagine everything he experienced.

However, there are a few small mistakes in the dialogue that disrupt the flow of the reading. These editing errors were the only downside, so I gave the book one star less in my rating.

I rate Quest: Finding Freddie 4 out of 5 stars overall. It's an exciting book that gives a different view of a real mystery. I suggest it to anyone who likes historical true stories, adventures, and political tales. The book mixes personal stories and historical events well, showing a real story with detailed descriptions and interesting storytelling.
