Mark Unger's book "First Survivor" is an engaging and intense read. The book narrates the tale of Louis, a young child, who receives a fatal diagnosis. Grab a copy of this book and discover the story behind it.

The narrative began when Louis's mother, Mary Ellen, noticed a strange pattern in Louis' gait. Mary Ellen's instincts took her to the hospital, where a battery of tests and scans revealed that Louis had neuroblastoma, an extremely lethal form of cancer. It is nevertheless true that Louis's condition worsened even more after his diagnosis, since his family had not yet fully recovered from their shock. But even in the face of insurmountable obstacles, his parents' unwavering will to see their child through to adulthood gave them courage and affection. While Louis's father researched day and night for potential treatments for his illness to give him the best chance of survival, Louis's mother took care of the household. Louis's father, Mark, kept a journal during this journey, recording Louis's treatments, prescriptions, and observations about his development.

This book has a lot of qualities that I admire. As I mentioned before, despite the book's emotional content, I had fun reading it. I loved how the author's writing style was distinct and how the book included pictures that demonstrated Louis' development and advancement. I appreciate how the author documented Louis's journey since it adds more depth about cancer and how to treat its patients to the book. The book also describes the ideal composition of a typical family. At all times, parents should be their children's rock and source of support, especially when things get tough. Thus, this book appeals to me in some ways. There was nothing about it that I disliked.

Because it is so instructional and insightful, I give this book a rating of five out of five stars. I saw a few errors in the book, which shows that it was exceptionally well edited. Since this book is extensively documented and will hopefully provide cancer patients with the hope they need along their journey, I highly recommend it to them.
