The Emotional Alchemy of Healing by Rachel Marie Rabatin—this book is a great addition to oneself. The author talked about healing from grief over losing someone, either in a relationship that has ended or by death, saying that repressing our emotions is dangerous. The emotions don’t disappear just because we bury them; they just come out in other ways. You have to allow yourself to feel your pain in order to feel the peace on the other side. You are going to have to get uncomfortable to get comfortable.

The author talked about several important things, such as dealing with surprise grief attacks and panic attacks, the importance of positive self-talk versus the effects of negative self-talk, the importance of slowing down, which would help us find peace by living and feeling the moment and the importance of having a routine and how that routine makes us less stressed, consequently being able to make important decisions.

She also talked about cutting ties with people, when it is good for us to do so, how not to feel guilty about cutting harmful ties and what ties we can look for. The author highlighted the importance of gratitude in different parts of the book, its role in our growth journey and how it helps us move on. The author talked about exercising, saying that its benefits are not only physical; as it makes us more determined, boosts confidence and increases mental resilience, it’s a huge motivator. She talked about how letting go of objects can help in the healing journey, in addition to other things.

I give this book 5 out of 5 as the author’s words were really touching. I liked the part where the author talked about points to consider when deciding whether to walk away from a relationship or not. Some people might only consider cutting ties if the relationship was abusive, but it does have to be. I also liked that she talked about the importance of feeling our emotions, as we sometimes tend to repress them.
