Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis introduces a fresh method to improve golf games using rapid reading, repetitive practice, and mental conditioning. Barlis emphasizes the importance of quick points in this book to engage the unconscious mind, which helps create neutral pathways for better learning and application. By going through this book daily for 21 days and scanning it before practice or play, we can reinforce the lessons effectively. This book is grounded in Neuro-Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques and practical advice, focusing on maintaining a peaceful mind and physical performance and deliberately avoiding traditional golf terminology that might reinforce negative habits. Her methods are informed by her experience coaching professional golfers, underscoring the mental aspect of the game as crucial for success. A significant part of this book is dedicated to visualization and mental conditioning. To play great golf, Barlis advises visualization of your desired level of play, including how you'll look, feel, and hear during the experience. She believes that purposeful thinking about your process is more important than just the mechanical motions. Creative visualization, where your brain can't distinguish between real and imagined actions, is a powerful tool for improving your game.

As I continue reading, the exercises included in this book are designed to build positive memories and resources for future shots.  Practicing these exercises, watching and emulating your favorite golfer, and replaying their actions in your mind will enhance your performance. Quality practice is emphasized over quantity. Routine and consistency are also key elements in the Barlis approach. She suggests following a pre-shot routine, considering environmental factors like wind and green slopes, and maintaining a clear, vivid mental image of the target. Developing a consistent routine for each shot, especially putting, helps in achieving better results. Lastly, Barlis emphasizes the importance of mindset and goal-setting. Positive thinking and adaptability are crucial not only in golf but also in life. By appreciating the privilege of playing golf and reflecting nature's beauty in your game, you can strive to play your best and enjoy every moment on the course.
