Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis provides all golfers with a concise guide on how one can improve one's game fast. The book brings together traditional golfing tips with neuro-linguistic programming techniques aimed at improving focus and overall mental performance, each complete with practical exercises and helpful pointers and emphasizing mental training, smart practice, and keeping a positive attitude. This book is the perfect manual to use easily during your practice or when playing with major themes on the power of visualization, strategic practice, and mental toughness. I would unhesitatingly recommend this book to any player, from the beginner up to an elite at the game, looking for guidance on how to improve his or her mental game and practice routines.
I'm very convinced this book contains practice routines that can be tailored to suit individual needs. There are so many varied drills and exercises throughout the book that help to personalize practice. Whether you are a raw beginner or an advanced golfer, you will find exercises that fit in with your present level and goals. It contains specific drills for the different areas of the game, like putting, chipping, and driving. There is a full description of every drill, indicating how one is expected to perform them and what to look out for.
I like how this book encourages golfers to set up specific intentions regarding what they would like to get out of every practice session. This can make practice much more focused and effective. This is a tailored approach where one can work on the weakness and build on strengths, thus emplacing balanced improvement. I also like the way this book empowers golfers to take charge of their practice routine and makes it more efficient.
I feel the book would have been much more practical if the book had sequels on these different levels of skill. For instance, if you are a complete beginner, you would be looking for more basic tips regarding the grip or stance. If you're advanced, it will provide more sophisticated strategies and mental toughness training, making it impossible to allow any specific group to benefit from the book properly without a defined audience and understanding of their pain points.
I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because it is actually a wonderful blend of the traditional methods of playing better golf with neuro-linguistic programming techniques to enhance focus and mentation. However, the one-size-fits-all approach will not be able to serve the needs of each and every golfer, making it a bit difficult for people who want to be self-taught. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.
