Our history is a true depiction of who we are as a people. It showed the journey we've taken and how far we've come as a people. 4 Daniel A Precolonial History and My Life History in Rhodesia and Zimbabwe by Edmund Katso is a memoir highlighting the precolonial history of Rhodesia and Zimbabwe and the impact of European rule on this part of Africa.

The book started with a brief history of Zimbabwe and Rhodesia. Stories of traditions, people, and places were carefully detailed in the book. The impact of the European colonisers on South Africa was also elucidated, and the lives and actions of various past leaders were described. The book also contained a brief story of the author’s personal life and family. The conquests and failures of both the indigenous rulers and the white rulers were clearly shown in the book.

It was a very enlightening read. The book was highly informative, providing a very unbiased view of life in the pre-colonial era. I also particularly loved the maps, historiography, and pictures, which gave a more vivid description of the events, people, and places described in the book. It was a very informative read.

I had some very strong dislikes about the book. Firstly, I found a lot of grammatical and punctuation errors, which were very obvious and difficult to overlook. These greatly affected my reading experience. I also found the book very monotonous, as it repeatedly wrote about different leaders and their actions, making it a boring read. Although the book contained very valuable information, it was very difficult to link the stories, events, and people in some parts of the story, leaving so much room for confusion and making the story difficult to follow and truly enjoy. I think the book should be reviewed and edited for the next edition.

I rate this book three out of five stars. I removed two stars because of the dislikes I mentioned above. The book was well edited, although I found several grammatical and punctuation errors while reading it. This book is recommended for individuals interested in pre-colonial history in Africa. It is a very informative read.

Rhodesia and Zimbabwe are two countries that I don't really know anything about their history, reading this book will surely add to my knowledge and would be valuable.
