If your husband or sibling disappeared in a different country and you were not even sure if they were alive, would you risk everything you had to find them? Ruth was willing to do anything it took to find her husband, Frederick David Nachman (Freddie), who disappeared in Nigeria. He was there on business and didn't return to his hotel room one day after leaving. To find him, she asked a law firm for assistance, and Thomas Richard Spradlin, the author of this book, was assigned the mission.

The people that Richard worked with or encountered, such as Chima, Peter, Bosede, Nwando, etc., all had something unique about them that made me love them. What's truly remarkable is Peter's quick-wittedness in deciphering Richard's veiled messages the first time Richard called him from the United States concerning the mission. Without any prior arrangement of a code system, Peter demonstrates an impressive ability to read between the lines, picking up on subtle cues and hidden meanings in real time. At one point, I thought Peter wouldn't get to Richard in time at the airport, but he was extraordinary at handling business.

What struck me most was Richard's pragmatic consideration of his life and the possibility of not returning. This level of preparation speaks volumes about Richard's character, and I see him as a man who faces life's uncertainties with realism and careful planning. In essence, Quest: Finding Freddie is not just a novel; it's a cultural journey guided by an author whose love and respect for the people of Nigeria are palpable on every page. The book stands as a prime example of how meticulous research, linguistic skills, and genuine cultural appreciation can combine to create a truly outstanding piece of literature. I recommend the book to anyone who likes reading history and political books. I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars because I disliked nothing about it. The book was also professionally edited.
