Niching Up, Chris Dreyer elucidates the ins and outs of niching in business through their experiences. Written matter-of-fact, conversive, and funny, the author has made reading the book a delight. In a time when many would wonder what the pros and cons of niching in any business, for that matter, would be, Dreyer goes beyond and weaves an interconnected web of the importance of focus, positioning, pricing, standing out, being the first in the field along with the warning that niching may not be required or essential for every single business. Niching might not necessarily mean limiting market opportunities but specializing in a particular field and keeping one’s horizons open. Through the authors' many ventures, interests, and learning, Niching Up captures the essence of learning from experience, building on knowledge, and putting it into practice. Separated into crisp sections with specific excerpts and references, the book compiles what works when niching in a business.

Having been my first book on business, I found Niching Up easy to read and analyze the business world built upon simple foundations of discipline, focus, drive, and intent. The saying, follow your passion, is only strengthened by following your passion with grit and pragmatism, something that resonated with me in Christ Dreyer's Niching Up. Dreyer urges the audience to pursue and invest in something interesting, competitive, creative, and, more importantly, fun. Dreyer uses references to sports, movies, a popular card game, and COVID-19 to help the audience better visualize and comprehend a jargon-heavy industry in a simplified and concise manner.

I found no negatives in the book. It is an excellent introduction to anyone looking to find and build a niche business.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There are no grammatical errors. The foul language used is done so sparingly and not to malign. The book is well-edited, paced, and sectioned.

I recommend Niching Up to all audiences and anyone looking to enter a business. The book covers the importance of exploring a field and specializing in a niche from which the audience can benefit. Covering a barrage of things that could go wrong, Chris Dreyer also mentions the number of things that could go right; all it needs is a solid understanding of the market and personal capacity. This book is valuable to those looking to start, specialize, or understand the world of business, marketing, and risk management.
