Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
5 out of 5 stars.
"Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book is an excellent read, which I highly recommend to all golf enthusiasts and newcomers alike. It is not simply the sheer amount of knowledge about the game presented in this book, fascinating in itself, but the angle of an approach based on NLP to improve not only the physical aspect of the golf player but also his or her mind on the golf course.
Even when explaining difficult principles, Barlis demonstrates how each concept plays out in practice by recounting her process of transitioning from personal golfing to becoming a professional golfer. The book is meticulously structured into three parts: These include Using Your Brain, the Practice of Golf, and Playing Golf. Every part goes into detail about the complexities of the game and stresses the fact that it is important to prepare mentally as well as physically.
This is one of the great points of this book; the author recognizes the significance of quality over quantity. Barlis further submits that it is not the fact that a person practices for many hours, but the actual manner in which it is done. This point of view is a welcome change and makes golfers embrace the concept of working smarter instead of using extra effort. The principles of the exercises given are aimed at the overall honing of both physical actions and mental abilities, enhancing performance.
The choice of language and structure is casual but coherent, which aids in explaining complicated concepts. It becomes easy to locate particular points or information when using bullet points and subheadings as any golfer in the course may need to read certain tips over and over again. The pictures of the golf balls which are depicted all over the pages make it interesting while reading the work.
However, it is critical to examine how Barlis treats the mental game as a game changer. Through NLP techniques, she helps them understand how to develop mental skills that are beneficial not just in the game but in everyday life such as concentration, positive thinking, and patience. The systematic approach used by the author in addition to giving real-life scenarios makes the book motivating.
Despite the myriad of useful tips given in the book, some can be put off by the use of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques that the author employs throughout the book unlike strictly adhering to basic golf teachings. Furthermore, it could be argued that the technical level of its content is not sufficiently high for the reader who is looking for a deeper analysis. However, these aspects do not undermine the overall didactic function and the concept behind the book which is why I am still giving 5 stars.
The book is fantastic and the writing and editing of the book are masterful i did not find grammatical and punctuation errors.
In conclusion, "Play Golf Better Faster: Whether a beginner or an experienced golfer out there, “The Little Golf Bag Book” should not be missing in your library. It provides a comprehensive mind-and-body approach to golfing that is liberal as well as practical. Barlis offers great insight and numerous techniques worth a 5-star rating for this book here. The book you are reading, whether it is the first golf book you have picked up, or the tenth, will make you play better, and a lot quicker.
