I Will Make of Thee a Great Nation by Val D. Greenwood is a collection of stories from the Bible from the Old Testament rewritten by the author to make them easily accessible and understood. The author shared stories of Adam and Eve, different kings, the Israelites, etc. There was so much clarification in the way the author wrote the stories titled "MOAB FALLS TO ISRAEL AND HER ALLIES," "TWO EAGLES, THE CEDAR TREE, AND THE VINE," "KING DARIUS SUPPORTS THE TEMPLE PROJECT," and many others.

I love how the author divided these stories into different sections according to the events at hand at the time. For instance, "Through the Wilderness and Into Canaan," "Saul and David: The Rise and Fall of King Saul," "Judah's Captivity: The Prophecies, the Siege, and the Reality," etc. It makes it easy to locate those events and study them. Reading this book also made me understand the stories better.

I love that the author made the stories more clear without adding fictional elements. I also love that the stories felt so natural! They didn't sound so far away, but they felt like something I was witnessing. According to the author, when he started, he thought he would write about 60 stories. But guess what? He ended up writing 219 stories! Can you imagine? And still, he did not include all the stories therein. I guess once he started, he couldn't stop because the Bible had a lot of good stories.

One thing I didn't like about the book was the lack of moral lessons in each story. I know the author did not add this element intentionally, but I wish it had been added. I started reading the book with the intention of picking up these lessons. I know that Bible stories speak in different ways to different people, depending on how you look at them. However, it wouldn't harm to have some lessons on the ground and ask the readers to find some other ones.

I recommend this book to Bible study groups, as it will help them study the Old Testament in a fun way. I love that the author explained how these stories were written and what a reader needs to know to have a great reading experience. Even maps were included. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because the negative aspect I mentioned was minor. The book's editing was also perfect.
