"(dis)Empowered" is a touching memoir written by Ellen Busch, delving into her personal journey on self-discovery, empowerment, determination, pursuit of healing, self-confidence, love and faith.

Through her candid and introspective experiences, we witness her struggles and strengths, gaining a glimpse into the challenges she faced as a dyslexic individual navigating the educational system.

The author skillfully recounts her story beautifully, with attention to detail, emotional depth and vulnerability, transporting readers through each challenge and success she faced. We see her growth as she describes each emotion with purpose, taking us along her transformative journey. Ellen's willingness to confront her struggles head-on without letting them overwhelm her is a testament to her resilience and determination.

I appreciate how the author acknowledges each struggle she encountered without shying away from the painful moments, writing both the beautiful and ugly parts of her story with unending honesty. This approach showcases real growth, vulnerability and the severity of her experiences, making her story relatable and impactful. For instance, in chapter 10, she courageously shares her experiences in an abusive marriage, revealing the scars that lingered long after. This chapter is an example of her resilience and determination to heal and move forward. I also commend the author for introducing new characters in each chapter, demonstrating how each person played an active role in her growth and development.

I enjoyed the book because Ellen's memoir explores universal human experiences, making it a relatable and engaging read for anyone who has faced similar adversities, sought healing or pursued self-discovery. The author's exploration of her faith and its influence on her decisions and emotional healing is cleverly written, showcasing the power of faith in overcoming adversaries.

I highly recommend this memoir to readers seeking stories of self-discovery, finding purpose in life and also spiritual growth. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because its concepts were well defined and there were no errors in it that I could find. It also excelled as a source of inspiration to those who may be in similar circumstances, and there was no aspect of it that I did not like.
