Before reading this book, I used to think golf would be such a dull and stuck-up sport since it was played mainly by the rich and didn’t seem to require so much energy or effort, or so I thought. Kalliope Barlis opened my eyes and made me realize how wrong I was. In this self-help book, Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag book, she introduces aspects and methods of golfing that completely changed my mindset about the game. The skills and practices presented by the author in this book, as crucial and essential as they are to golf, can also benefit other aspects of life.

The book is divided into three parts that explore the game's mental aspects, the tactics of practicing, and the strategies of playing golf. Still, Kalliope emphasizes the importance of the mental aspect of the game, particularly the use of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) as the ultimate tool to improve focus and performance. NLP is a way of improving performance by changing or conditioning your mindset so that your behavior can help you become a better player. This method is a significant step away from the traditional golf approaches and practices.

I like the simplicity of the language she used in writing. This helped me understand what she meant every step of the way while reading. Her ideas are spot on, as they ensure individuals can immediately apply the theories learned from the book in real life. I also like that her exercises go beyond working on the physical forms of players; they also help you build concentration and self-awareness. The pictorial descriptions on the pages were so helpful, as they helped me picture some of her explanations in my mind.

I recommend this book to golfers, both beginners and professionals, as everyone has something to learn from it. I also recommend it to those who would love to play but don’t know how. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars because I disliked nothing about it, and it was well-written and professionally edited.

I love the point made about golf being both a physical and mental challenge. An approach like this that trains both body and mind in tandem promises to elevate anyone's game.
