Tina Kowalski's Unlikely Righteousness is a page-turner. This is the first time I will be reading a compilation of stories of unsung heroes that the Bible did not dwell on. The author's writing skills are top-notch. Her analysis of characters, the likelihood of what could have happened, and acts ordinarily implied were so endearing. The title of the book alone arouses a high level of interest and suspense. I didn't have an idea of what the content of this great book was until I started reading. Tina Kowalski is a great thinker, an intelligent writer, and a meticulous and objective being. This book opened my eyes to the fact that the Bible is beyond its content. The author did an amazing job of engaging readers to think and relate to her explanations. Do you want to know more beyond the pages of the Bible? A Bible character you have certain reservations about might be your favorite after all. Attempt a dare and get this great book.

Unlikely Righteousness is a book with in-depth details of events unrecorded in the Bible. A lot of things stood out for me because certain things in the Bible made more sense to me after reading this wonderful book. This is attributed to how the author links each story to the gospel, the person of Jesus Christ, and its applicability in modern times. I noticed the author's emphasis on the love of God, thereby creating an imaginary picture of a creator who is willing to let go of his creations' errors and shortcomings. This is evident with Cain and Esau.

The moral lessons in this book are valuable. I say they are valuable because of the numerous lessons attached to this nonfiction. One such lesson is that anonymity does not equal insignificance, and another is the need to always be honest and accountable. One striking thing about this book is how the author picks a character and elaborates on such a character. A good example is what transpired between Jacob and his wives. I saw that story in another light because the author was thorough with details.

I like everything about this book. There were times I got so emotional while reading. The first was when Hagar found herself in the wilderness a second time. She was practically stranded in the wilderness with a son to take care of. Esau's reunion with his brother after twenty years, and the deaths of the prince and his father by Jacob's sons, made me cry. I also appreciated the author pointing out the transition in the character of a former righteous businessman.

I will rate this book a 5 out of 5, even though I disagree with the author that it wasn't completely Abram's idea to lie about his wife's identity to Pharaoh. Save for this; it is a perfect and enjoyable read. I like the personality of Phichol; we all need one around us. Abraham's servant and Pharaoh's daughter are my favorite characters. Loyalty and a good heart singled them out. I recommend this book to Christians and everyone who desires to do a thorough study of Bible characters.
