Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is an insightful self-help guide that aims to help its readers plan ahead for a better and more satisfying life after retirement. The author, who is an accredited investment fiduciary and a certified financial planner, has a solid financial background from prestigious institutions of learning such as the American College of Financial Services. These gave him the credibility to write on the various subject matters discussed in the book. Some of the subject matters discussed in the book are retirement plans, investment opportunities such as stocks and bonds, insurance, and budgeting. The author also went way ahead of other publications in this category of books by introducing modern methods such as the use of software applications that can aid in reconfiguring one's life ahead of retirement.

There are numerous aspects of the book that I liked and enjoyed reading. One is the author's use of stories and personal experiences to drive home his points. An example of such stories that I found helpful is the story of a poor but wise farmer, which the author used to emphasise his point about seeing opportunities in every challenge. The author's discussion on insurance, especially disability insurance, is one that I found educational. The author went further to differentiate between group disability insurance and personal disability insurance, using the story of Frank and his wife Ann. Another aspect of the book I found useful was the personality assessment test tools and sources the author included. I was able to test for and know my personality type using one of the tools.

In terms of ratings, I rate this book five out of five stars because of the aspects of the book I stated that I like above. Another reason for this rating is because of the author's light and humorous writing style, which helped ease my reading experience. He added jokes from external sources to the different sections of the book. One of the jokes that got me smiling was, "The only thing that travels faster than light is your weekend."

This book was exceptionally edited because, after carefully reading every page of the book, I did not come across any typos or errors. I also did not notice any negatives while reading. So I will recommend the book to anyone who is currently working and planning their life towards retirement.
