Book on Leadership Strategies for Times of Exponential Technology Innovation has become indispensable for leaders in all sectors in today's rapidly changing technological landscape.

“Figure Eight” by Marcelo De Santis explains in detail how technologies like cloud computing, AI, the metaverse, and advanced robotics develop modern society dramatically. Although they make processes more efficient while redefining societal constructs, these advances give rise to moral predicaments, privacy concerns, and a skills gap. In this book, you will see how responsible technology development is determined. The author illustrates a model of leadership that incorporates the 4Cs of influence, which are a model—comprising character, competence, connection, and culture—to help handle fast-changing technology environments and foster innovation while staying ethical.

Technological innovation in the exponential domain happens at a speed beyond any normal understanding and changes our world every second. The only way to have stability is better leadership, which cannot be attained by a crash course.

This book discloses key ideas, among them that successful leaders are flexible and strong, especially under rapid technological advancement. This comparison approximates an example whereby it explains how a figure eight knot can withstand pressure yet it remains quite easy to untie when necessary.

Similarly, this book highlights the importance of correctly managing technology; hence, decisions made now will shape future technological developments and their impact on society. Henceforth, ethical principles in the development of technology must be adhered to by leaders if innovations are to ensure that humanity is served and preserved. Finally, almost every chapter in this book ends with a “Personal Reflections” section where the reader can reflect on what they have read and apply it to their everyday lives.

In addition, there are stories from real-life successful people across various industries such as business, nonprofits, venture capital, entrepreneurship, sports, and technology. All these stories serve as an explanation for each of the eight leadership strategies. What I really love about this book is its down-to-earth approach, which includes worksheets that readers could employ different tools to construct their figure-eight framework starting from self-awareness up until strategic planning and concrete actions.

There isn’t anything that I do not like about this book. The book is edited perfectly. This book deserves five out of five stars from me because of the author's unique style of writing. I would recommend this book to those who want to devote their leadership skills in this technological era.
