“A Will to Impact: Insights of a Social Entrepreneur in Ghana” by Olivia Safo is a compelling memoir that chronicles the author's entrepreneurial journey, resilience, and deep-seated faith. The book opens with an introduction that lays out Olivia's motivation for writing, emphasizing the importance of learning from history to inspire future generations.

Olivia recounts her childhood during the politically turbulent 1970s in Ghana, highlighting her adventures, frequent relocations, and education in London and Ghana. Her initial aspiration to become a Catholic nun was influenced by her experiences at Achimota School. She then explores her initial ventures into business through the family’s agricultural enterprise, focusing on pineapple farming. She shares insights on developing negotiation skills and the significance of preserving produce for export. Grab this book to read into the life and experiences of the author, characterized by business huddles, leadership challenges, sacrificial life, entrepreneurial experiences, and personal philosophical reflection on her experiences in general. The book serves as a motivational guide, with Olivia’s rules rooted in real-life experiences, offering readers practical advice for overcoming adversity and achieving success too.

In this book, I found the most compelling element to be Olivia Safo's unwavering resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, which shine through in each chapter. Her ability to turn personal and professional adversities into opportunities for growth and community betterment is profoundly inspiring.
I also commend her detailed recount of the family’s pineapple export business in the "Impact Investing" chapter. Olivia’s meticulous description of the logistical challenges and market expansion strategies provides a practical guide for aspiring entrepreneurs. For instance, her proactive involvement in marketing and sales, coupled with her innovative approach to preserving produce for export, underscores her commitment to creating sustainable business practices.

The "Nine-Point Rule for Life" chapter serves as a motivational guide rooted in Olivia’s real-life experiences. This part denotes the essence of this book, which is to help the next generation of entrepreneurs see possibilities for success in the midst of adversity that poses impossibilities.
This book is beautifully written and laid out, with no reading difficulties. It has been professionally edited, and I found nothing to dislike in it. Overall, I'd rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

"A Will to Impact" is particularly suitable for aspiring entrepreneurs, social activists, and anyone interested in the dynamics of social entrepreneurship in Africa. Olivia Safo’s journey offers invaluable insights and inspiration, making this book a must-read for those looking to make a positive impact through business.
