Have you ever wondered what heaven looks like? Do you imagine a pristine kingdom set on a bed of clouds? Does hell resemble a lake of burning fire and brimstone? In Snatched Up to Heaven! by Jemima and Arvind Paul, the authors describe their two daughters’ visions of heaven and hell.

Jemima’s two daughters, Deepika and Priyanka, were “lifted to heaven” while they slept and were shown visions of heaven and hell. They walked alongside Jesus and God and spoke of beautiful depictions of heaven and dark images of hell. At the beginning of each chapter, Jemima starts with a Bible verse related to her children’s visions. She then narrates that vision and gives us her interpretation. Jemima connects the things the kids said or saw to scriptures in the Bible and things various prophets, or Biblical people, have said, saw, or done. I appreciate the author taking each part of her kids’ visions and interpreting each one, giving explicit examples of references and related stories from the Bible. It helped me visualize what the kids had seen.

My favorite part was the children’s narration of them catching baby fish in heaven. The author connected this to the notion that mankind is referred to as God’s children throughout the Bible, and she interprets the children catching fish as “bringing together God’s children unto Christ.” As a fellow Christian, I appreciate the call to action.

While I am not of the same denomination of Christianity as the author, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It isn’t every day you get to read of divine revelations coming to others, let alone through children's dreams. It was refreshing and heartwarming to read about a child’s perspective on heaven and the godhead. While the author and her children’s visions of heaven do not perfectly match my view, it was comforting to read of others’ experiences with God’s celestial kingdom.

I also love the continual themes of “coming until Christ” and “loving thy neighbor.” Even if you don’t believe in Christ or God, the invitation to love those around you—to love your enemy—is an important task for today as politics and societal pressures push people to violence and hatred. Deciding to love those around us despite their political, societal, or religious affiliation will make the world a better place.

Overall, I give Snatched Up to Heaven! by Jemima and Arvind Paul 5 out of 5 stars. The writing was easy to understand, the descriptions of heaven and hell were perfectly narrated for easy visualization, and I found no grammatical errors.

I highly recommend this book to all denominations of Christianity, as well as anyone with an open mind and heart. Even if you don’t believe in Christ or heaven, being able to read a child’s openness, honesty, and innocence described through visions is a beautiful thing. I thank the author for having the courage and vulnerability to share her children’s innocent and stunning visions of heaven.
