Review of Reconfigurement
E. Alan Fleischauer's "Reconfigurement" is a self-help guide to understanding the basic principles of financial planning for anyone planning retirement or even for those who are starting their career. Fleischauer discusses career choice, self-assessment, wealth management, life insurance, affordable health insurance, and long-term care. To this extent, the book is highly useful for anyone interested in planning for the future and safeguarding his or her finances.
In my opinion, "Reconfigurement" is a remarkably useful book that offers sound and reliable advice on managing one’s career while presenting a rather inspiring view on the subject of retirement. Fleischauer's use of simple language in his writing and humor makes it easier to understand complex information. His experience in financial services is beneficial and most felt in the career assessment sections. For instance, he gives updates on aptitude tests and career guides with links to the most desirable careers for a career switch or retirement. Unlike most financial books that only educate but fail to guide the reader to take the next action towards his or her financial journey, this approach does both.
My favorite part is Fleischauer’s view of crises. He offers good insight by explaining how various cultures define crises. For example, he points out that in China, the word for crisis is made of two symbols, one meaning danger and the other opportunity; thus, a crisis may present a good chance for development. This perspective on crises enriches the book’s tips on how to prepare for and respond to the shifts in one’s life.
The book has its strengths in its comprehensive discussion of the key financial areas and practical recommendations. Fleischauer’s use of practical scenarios together with guidance helps demystify various issues. The book’s formatting is professional, with each chapter devoted to a particular topic related to planning for retirement and personal finance. However, some readers might consider the language used more informal than appropriate for such a book, and some of them might also be put off by the overwhelmingly US-centric focus of the book. Nevertheless, this book is quite accurate and error-free.
I highly recommend "Reconfigurement" to anyone who wants to enhance their financial life and plan for retirement. It is equally useful for young people who are just beginning their process of financial independence, as it provides much more than just tips on how to save for retirement. For its correctness, simplicity of the language used, and broadness of information, this book gets a five out of five-star rating from me.
In conclusion, "Reconfigurement" is a very useful tool for anyone looking to improve their financial understanding. Fleischauer’s engaging writing style and approachable tone make the book an invaluable source of information for readers of all ages and levels of financial experience.
