I grew up in a family with poor financial planning, which I wouldn’t fault because they weren’t grounded in the concept of planning. But I learned a lot from the consequences of poor planning and growing up; it keeps ringing in my head. I know little about planning, but reading E. Alan Fleischauer's book on Reconfigurement, I learned a whole lot of new things, which I will forever be thankful for.

I want to talk about the story the author narrated in the book about Joe. Joe is 42 years old and earns $250,000 a year as a business consultant. He has a house worth $500,000, cars worth $75,000, and a boat worth $25,000. Every year, Joe spends $6,000 to insure these things. But what about the millions of dollars he’s supposed to earn over the rest of his career? Joe’s income is his most valuable asset, yet he spends just as much insuring it as he does on his house, cars, and boat. But then, what if Joe got hurt and couldn’t work anymore? Without income protection, he wouldn’t have any money coming in to pay his bills, keep his house, or take care of his family. This book explains how important it is to have this kind of protection.

I love the fact that the author uses real-life scenarios and examples to help readers understand the ideas being passed on in the book. This could be seen in how income protection was explained using the story of Joe. The content of the book is very straightforward and practical on income and planning. I also love the fact that this book promotes future planning—a mistake our parents made, but then with this book such mistakes would be avoided. This book is written by an experienced author, which implies that its content is worth giving a try. The book editing was brilliant; there were no errors encountered while reading.

I didn’t enjoy the humor in the book; it kind of cut the flow of the read for me. But then it's a book that deserves a five out of five-star rating for its overall quality. I would recommend this book to financial experts and young adults.
