”Defining Moments of a Free Man from a Black Stream,” written by Dr. Frank L. Douglas, is an interesting memoir that reflects the life path of the author, a successful scientist, an entrepreneur, and a diversity advocate. Lying in the south of the Caribbean, British Guiana, now called Guyana, is native to Dr. Douglas, for whom early life in such a society with racial and economic inequality provided him with a good deal of struggle before arriving at a successful academic status.

In this memoir, Dr. Douglas explains how he dealt with the key incidents in his childhood, his learning in the United States, and his journey from working in the pharmaceutical industry to becoming one of the most notable personalities in present-day America. The book gives the public a glimpse of all the challenges he encountered, such as racism, cultural, and personal struggles, and also shows how they motivated him to achieve more.

The memoir also creates an understanding of other social and racial problems and ways of experiencing the hardships of people of color at work and in daily life. The final reflection from Dr. Douglas tackles the issues of mentorship, the role of knowledge and learning, as well as the problems stemming from the lack of equity across organizations and societies.

This work is not only an autobiography but also an indication of the power of a human spirit and the value of mere determination. In my considerations and conclusions, it is necessary to state that the story of Dr. Douglas is an example for people who ever have to face the great difficulties that nobody can overcome without additional efforts and challenges. I rate this book five out of five stars. I found no grammatical errors. I couldn't find anything to dislike about the book. It was written beautifully from beginning to end.
