A life well lived from my perspective is one with beautiful memories both sad and happy, family, friends, and happiness, and after reading the book I Have Calluses on My Hands by Harold Henry and Neil Henry, I would conclude that Harold Henry had a good life. Harold was born in 1911 and died in 2007. In this book, you will find out about his Jewish origins and also learn about his family. You will also find out about his parents, who were hard-working people and owned a moving business. You will also learn about Harold's own life, marriage, children, and work life that started out with his father's moving business, and later he became a legal practitioner. I am sure you are eager to know more about this gentleman, so get yourself a copy of this book to find out more.

I liked the reality and life in the olden days portrayed by the authors in this book. Technology wasn't present in the 1900's as it is today. Women weren't empowered, and children did as they were told by parents, and this was also present in the Henry family. An example of parents making choices for their children can be seen when Harold was told by his mother that he had to learn how to play some musical instruments, and he couldn't say no because his mother's word was final.

One thing that added life to this book were the different photographs of not only the authors families but places they lived or the things they owned. I very much enjoyed these photos, and where Harold couldn't find the originals, he provided a photo of the item close to what he meant.

There is nothing I disliked about this book, and I enjoyed the roller coaster ride as I uncovered different members of Harold's family, both alive and dead. Due to these reasons, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, and it seems to have been well edited since I encountered no errors. I recommend it to anyone who likes memoirs and digging into family history.
