Poppy Mortimer's book "28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir" is a hilarious read. Author Poppy Mortimer is funny, a creative writer, and an entrepreneur, which she credits to her dad. She has a passion for reading and learning new things.

I strongly advise getting a copy of "28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humorous Memoir" if you want to read and laugh. You will accompany the author on 28 dates throughout this book, all of them more horrific and entertaining than the last. Even though the author is traveling across the pond for education, this doesn't appear to improve or worsen her dating life. After graduating and moving across the pond once more, the terrible dating situation still does not get any better. Poppy's family, particularly her mother, supports her in navigating these turbulent waters throughout the book. Unfortunately, most people—of any gender—can identify with these disastrous tales. Perhaps not with the writers' unwavering determination to locate the right man.

Although the book is lighthearted, humorous, and amusing, the author does draw attention to the conditioning that women may have to be kind, tolerant, and to accept things that they should vehemently disagree with.

My favorite part of this book was the laughing. I laughed so hard reading this book that it felt like I attended the gym for an ab workout. Admittedly, this was far more enjoyable. I laughed hardest during the story of the exclusive party; I’m not sure how I would’ve handled that situation.

There was nothing about this book I didn’t like. I loved every second of reading it and can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard reading.

I give this book five stars. There are deeper meanings underlying the humor in this book because of the author's openness, vulnerability, and readiness to share her conditioning with the readership. It was written in an engaging style and professionally edited.
