While I know that it is impossible for the world to get to a point of permanent peace, I think people who have been instrumental so far in bringing a considerable amount of this peace we enjoy presently are very much underrated. "A Dream for Peace" by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a profound memoir that perfectly blends personal experiences with key historical events significant to the liberation of various countries. This book exposes the complexities of French colonialism in Algeria and the broader struggle for peace in different parts of the world.

This book starts off with a background on Dr. Berrah’s early life in Aïn Beïda, Algeria, during the French colonial era. It captures his journey from a young boy in a politically charged environment to an influential diplomat and peace advocate. His journey was marked by critical obstacles such as challenges of discrimination, identity, education, and more. This book also provides hints on global issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, African independence movements, and several peacekeeping efforts.

A book of this kind could easily bore readers; however, this was not the case with this book, which is something I find commendable. The author proved he was a good storyteller as he creatively merged his personal memoir with historical analysis and events, offering a unique perspective on his struggles. I appreciated how Dr. Berrah portrayed the Algerian customs and traditions at the beginning of this book, providing an authentic glimpse into North African culture. I love that pictures and other authentic documents were incorporated into this book. These gave me no doubt about the story and events contained in this book. Beyond its historical and cultural insights, this book serves as a reminder of the power and importance of peace in our world.

I found just an error in this book, which had no impact on the overall beauty of this book. This book was largely well organized and well edited. I also had nothing to criticize or dislike about this book.

I enjoyed reading this book, and with no reason to give it less than a perfect rating, I will rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to all lovers of nonfiction and historical books. Peace lovers should consider this book.
