First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough by Mark Unger is a book that tells the true life story of a three-year-old boy named Louis. Mark Unger married Mary Ellen, and they both had two children named Louis and Harry. Their lives took a turn for the worse when Louis was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a deadly pediatric cancer commonly found in children. Mark Unger details the painful journey he and his family went through, from the highs and lows to the roller coaster of emotions they had to endure.
 
First, I want to commend the author for the incredible courage he showed in sharing this personal story. It takes a lot of bravery to confront painful memories and relive sad experiences. For me, bringing to light your biggest fears and darkest moments is no easy feat; that's why I respect this author. Mark approached this with unbelievable courage, and I admire that.
 
I liked the bravery that Mark showed through this painful process. Mark did not just accept that his son Louis had a zero chance of survival; he took it upon himself to do countless research, contacting different medical professionals to ensure he figured out the best treatment option for his son. This sends a message to readers to show bravery even in difficult situations.
 
Overall, I give this book five out of five stars for how effectively the author explores and educates readers on this dangerous cancer called neuroblastoma. His personal story is inspiring and enlightening, especially for those unfamiliar with this disease. I hadn't heard of neuroblastoma before, and I appreciated the valuable insight the author provided.
 
I disliked nothing about this book, so there was no reason to deprive it of a perfect rating. I found no grammatical errors, as this book was edited impeccably. I give the author immense credit for this, as it displays his undeniable commitment to ensuring readers have a wonderful reading experience.
 
I recommend this book to individuals in general who are going through health difficulties and have probably lost all hope. This book will serve as a source of inspiration.
