"Play Golf Better Faster" by Kalliope Barlis is a handbook on how to change your mindset to improve your golf game. It’s not a technical manual but rather a guide focused on the mental aspects of the game. I find that the information is very valuable and transferable to other areas beyond golf, which is a pleasant surprise.

The book uses the concept of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to explain how our thoughts and perceptions impact our lives and performance on the golf course. It is divided into three main parts: the first discusses how to use our brain effectively, the second applies these insights to practicing golf, and the final focuses on how to actually play the game.

In general, this book is a quick and easy read, dense with valuable insights, as the author mentions at the beginning. There are no complicated terminologies or lengthy sentences to confuse the readers; the author focuses on conveying ideas. Each chapter makes a point, elaborates on it, and provides examples of how to apply the knowledge in practice, then moves on to the next topic without unnecessary repetition. As a result, the book is very digestible and portable, allowing you to reference it whenever you need a quick refresher.

What I particularly like is how the author organizes the book into chapters that progressively build knowledge and teach practical application. In the later chapters, which are more practical, the author introduces concepts and then provides key takeaways, which are extremely valuable and time-saving for the readers.

The editing is flawless, with no noticeable errors or typos, and the writing is clear and to the point. Each page of the book is numbered with the name of the main section, making it easy to track your reading progress.

The book not only offers clear and concise guidance on changing your mindset to improve your game quickly but also includes questions for readers to reflect on, along with step-by-step instructions for physical practice. Overall, the book is extremely valuable, with teachings applicable not just to golf but to other areas of life as well. The author manages to distil complex and abstract ideas into clear and practical points. The delivery, writing, and editing are all excellent. I would give it 5/5 stars and will definitely return to it from time to time.
