Quest: Finding Freddie by Thomas Richard Spradlin is set primarily in Nigeria in 1976 during political unrest. Two military coups had successively occurred, one led by Colonel Dimka and the other led by General Obasanjo, to correct Dimka's unnecessary uprising. Also occurring in that period was Israel's rescue of terrorist-held passengers of a flight hijacked while it was in transit, leading to a sort of mixed feeling towards the Jews at that time. This period of unrest is when Frederick David Nachman of the Nachman International Trading Corporation [NITC] goes missing.

He had come to Nigeria to grow the telecommunications sector aspect of his business before the unfortunate incident. Now, because he was a Swedish citizen who lived in America for a long period, both countries couldn't claim him as their citizen; hence, his disappearance was not taken seriously. His wife, Mrs. Nachman, has no choice but to solicit the help of their representative law firm, who agrees to send the author, Thomas Richard Spradlin, to find this man and return him, whether dead or alive, as he had just returned from Nigeria. Will he find Mr. Nachman? or would the unrest be too much for him?

I did not think I'd enjoy reading this book as much as I did; it was of the non-fiction genre and was very adventurous and intriguing. The book recounts the detailed experience of the author's re-entry into Nigeria to find his firm's missing client. I admired the author's attempt to fit in with the people by learning vernacular and the effort he put towards interacting with the people. The author's descriptive ability is also unmatched, as he avidly pens down everything he encounters, continuously captivating his audience. The book qualifies as informative based on the tidbits about history and is suspense-filled as one cannot predict what will occur next.

I had no dislikes; instead, I highly recommend this book. From the plot to the character development to its diction, it is a piece that promises to entertain and enlighten its audience. I spotted a few errors in my reading, but they are minor and would not deter the readers. Due to the immense enjoyment I got from this book and the reasons listed above, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to people who enjoy adventurous tales and also non-fiction.
