Golf is a game of the mind, as much as it is a physical one. For you to play at your best, you need to visualize yourself hitting the target and making a hole. Once you've got your mind in the game, playing it becomes easier. That is essentially what Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book is about. Kalliope Barlis, the author, gives tips and pointers on how to master your golf game by using your brain, practicing golf, and playing golf. She also lists some exercises to ensure your ball lands in the hole every time you play. It’s a more hands-on approach to golf than her other book on the same subject.

My favorite parts of this book are endless. I loved the useful advice she gave pertaining to how the brain functions. She brought up the point that imagining something as being either big or small can help how we feel about it. For example, if we feel something is too great a task to do, we need to change our view of it as something small, and it becomes easier for us to do. That advice can be applied to any area of one’s life, not just golf. It again emphasized the importance of being in the correct mindset for one to play golf better.

If there was a book just like this for every sport, I believe I could become a pro at anything. This was so detailed and realistic that even I, who has never been on a golf field, feel like I can play golf. It's amazing what a powerful tool our minds are; once we use them for good and not for bad, we can see the most beautiful results.

I also liked how she talked about Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) in a more practical and brief way than in the first book. This improved the book's readability. For one to have a better game at golf, one needs to work with their senses; sight, hearing, feeling, smell, and taste. That is the whole point of using the NLP in golf; it uses what you already possess to make you a better golfer.

Another thing I liked was how she mentioned it is important to ask realistic questions about the things you want to achieve. For example, "is it within my control to obtain the level of play I want?" It’s only possible to become better at your golf game if you are realistic and honest with yourself. This was important to me because it demonstrates how realism plays a vital role in achieving what one wants.

The book's unique feature that impressed me was that she put in a note for left-handed players. She stated that the instructions were written for right-handed players and that left-handed players should use their left hand when she says right, and right when she says left. I thought that was very considerate.

I did not notice any errors in the book, an indication of how exceptionally well-edited it was. The grammar was assimilable, even to a layman’s eyes. There was nothing negative to note about the book. I will give it a rating of five out of five because of how practical, realistic and useful it is for anyone wanting to improve their golf game.

I recommend this book to lovers of sports-themed nonfiction books. I will also recommend it to lovers of nonfiction targeted at self-improvement. It contains almost no profanity and no sexual content, as such, readers of all ages can also read it if they so wish.
