Our future may be glorious, and we will not know it until we are humble enough to have God reveal it to us. This is one of the lessons from the book Unlikely Righteousness by Tina Kowalski. The author felt she was not getting the recognition she was craving due to her battle with weight, intense shyness, and social awkwardness. The only thing she had going for her was her intellect. This drew her to the Book of Genesis, where she decided to write a book about the unsung heroes of the Bible, unlike the heroes and villains. The author identifies those whose faith and actions should be significant to us and gives them their moment in the sun. She shares their trials, challenges, weaknesses, and strengths. She finally gives lessons that can be learned from them at the end of every story.

The author has used quotes from modern religious leaders, studied manuals, and shared her own experiences with other people and the experiences of others to fill in the blanks because the characters are least spoken of. She has asked herself enough questions, some for the reader to get them thinking as they read. She has also used speculations to tell the characters and infer a lot from the Bible verses and the characters' actions. She also shares her perspectives on each story. She was committed to being fair throughout the book.

I loved how the author achieved her goal of bringing out the characters by coming up with logical conclusions and visualizing situations from multiple angles and proper contexts, therefore employing empathy. I also loved her writing style, which was engaging, descriptive, and imaginative, thus evoking the reader's emotions. My best part was the book's overall lesson: God loves us regardless of race, gender, or religion.

The author did great work regarding grammar; the references and the effort made to find substantial information that is reliable to the reader make it serve its purpose to the reader. In addition, the book was professionally edited as I could not get errors. This makes me give the book a well-deserved rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to lovers of Christian literature books.
